I utilize photography and sculpture to explore my Filipino-American identity through the themes of love, heritage and feminism. My artwork serves as a means to recognize connections and familial values. I am curious about the people and environments that surround me, and I draw upon emotions like fear and insecurity as tools for this exploration. Reflecting on these themes offers me a new perspective on myself, my family, and my cultural history. Through documentary strategies, I aim to highlight the strong matriarchal presence in my family, along with other aspects of Filipino culture and ancestral history.

I utilize natural light as a vital strategy to emphasize my subjects, enhancing the depth of visual storytelling. By highlighting the subject it allows a showcase of beauty and tenderness. Moreover, light and color play a crucial role in maintaining the authenticity of my subjects, placing them at the heart of my creative practice.

With my work, I intend for the audience to experience a level of curiosity, immersion and learning. Alongside my understanding of my heritage and its political implications into the contemporary, I hope to provoke the viewer to think critically of how historical events have shaped us into who we are.
