Tracing Back

The concept for this body of work is inspired by my grandmother whom I call, “Tita.” Her full name is Anita Miciano. She has always been a leader in my life and I admire her greatly. This series of photos pays homage to her as well as Filipino culture. Aspects such as catholicism, cuisine, heritage, family, reflection, and the passage of time are depicted within these images. This body of work further expresses my cultural background. his series reveals my grandmother's culture and presents further details of my identity. Exposing the audience to different cultures not only expands our perspective of others but allows us to view common cultural expressions and recognize the similarities shared amongst ourselves.
